Building Capability Where Performance Matters Most
The moments that matter ask more of people.
Leaders need to make better decisions under pressure. Teams need to work with greater consistency. People need to adapt, communicate, solve problems, and apply new behaviours in the realities of their work.
Capability journeys help people build the skills, judgement, and confidence required to perform in those moments.
Capability Grows Through Cycles of Learning
The capabilities that influence performance are rarely built in a single learning experience.
They develop through ongoing cycles of conviction, understanding, practice, application, and reinforcement.
At the centre of every Eagle’s Flight capability journey is a simple behaviour change model: Heart, Head, Hands, and Harvest. These four elements are not a sequence to complete once. They form a continuous cycle that helps people strengthen capability over time.
Capability grows as each cycle builds on the last. Every experience creates new conviction, deeper understanding, stronger capability, and fresh opportunities to learn again.
Capability Grows Across the Whole Learning Journey
Capability is not built only during formal learning.
Most development happens as people return to work, receive feedback, apply new behaviours, and continue learning through experience.
This principle is often described through the 70:20:10 framework, which recognizes that capability develops across multiple forms of learning.
Capability journeys are designed to support all three parts of development, helping organizations connect learning with everyday performance.

Structured learning experiences that build conviction, knowledge, and skill.
Eagle’s Flight creates the foundation.

Coaching, feedback, reflection, and conversations that help people turn learning into action.
Our experiences prepare leaders and teams to make those conversations more effective.

Application in the flow of work, where behaviours are tested, strengthened, and sustained.
Acceler8 helps reinforce learning where capability is ultimately built: in the realities of work.
Capability In Action
Capability matters when it changes what people do in the moments that influence performance.
Whether the focus is leadership, execution, safety, change, culture, frontline effectiveness, or team performance, the goal remains the same: helping people consistently apply the behaviours that drive results.
Aecon
Building Leadership Consistency Across Canada’s Most Complex Jobsites
Aecon was growing nationally, but the leadership expectations set at head office weren’t landing the same way on every jobsite. Eagles Flight built audience-specific programs embedding a shared leadership language into performance evaluations, developing 3,000+ employees and leaders across remote and shift-based crews nationwide, with the executive team mandating the language organization-wide.
Western Union
Making Customer-First Behavior Stick Across 54 Countries
Previous initiatives at Western Union had generated energy at launch and then faded, widening the gap between stated values and daily behavior across 54 countries. Eagles Flight co-created Leadership Edge, a six-day journey completed by 700 global frontline leaders and reinforced by 12 digital touchpoints, reaching 9,000 employees and driving a measurable increase in customer satisfaction scores.
Merck
When Safety Systems Aren’t Enough: How Merck Moved from Compliance to Conviction Across 52 Global Factories
Merck’s manufacturing network already had the systems, audits, and rules, but global discovery revealed employees didn’t believe safety outcomes were within their control. Eagles Flight built Safe by Choice to close that mindset gap, reaching 52 factories and roughly 20,750 employees while driving a 61% decrease in lost-time incident rates and a 64% increase in near-miss reporting.
The Science Behind the Journey
Capability journeys are informed by the same behavioural science principles that shape every Eagle’s Flight solution.
The 4H model provides a practical framework for applying those principles over time, helping people build conviction, develop capability, practice in realistic conditions, and reinforce new behaviours as they become part of everyday work.
